There's a syntax error in your signature btw

Jokes aside, the best way to learn PHP would be to pick up a book on it. The problem with online resources is that it's cluttered information sparsely distributed all over the place. With a book, you get it all organized into chapters. I learnt from Sams Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours which is a great book!

Well I learned 'the hard way'.

Basicly I picked up vBulletin way back 2000 (maybe 1999 who knows...) and installed a few hacks around here. Eventally I started making small modifications to these hacks and would break them and have to fix them.

With much trail and error I learned most of php via this community by hacking my own forum or links dropped in posts in this community. The code is all around you, take them time to read some of it.

Books are good to of course, you just have to take the time to write working code as you learn.

I learn PHP from Vbulletin sources (thanks VB), at first I couldn't think I would understand it but after some tries I did. It's really exciting when coding.

However I don't know how can I start coding without Vbulletin since VB has its perfect template storing system. I know it's hard when writing outsite vb when you have to make your own way to store the templates (HTML things).

one note that you would never understand PHP well unless you know some SQL.

btw the only 'book' I read other than vbulletin is php.net.

That's not necessarily true, SQL is a standard format for retreiving data from a database but there are alternative methods of data retrieval. Of course there is XML flat-file storage which is easily parsed too

i suck at teh coding, but i learned from a book i treasure with all my heart

nah i can make and break stuff and fix stuff and get frustrated but i'm still at the stage where i need to beg for help every now and again, i think i code weird too as i tend to code from the perspective of the enduser rather than thinking globally and implementing from a skeleton.
