My situation

I 0wn a couple of VB licenes and have been using VB for almost three years now.

Before I had someone handle all of my programing issues and everything. All I did was use the program and do small things. I undestand the use of the admin panel and so on.

So I consider myself jsut above the means of that of an end user.

Here is my situation. The guy that I have used for the past three years has to stop helping me. Do not need to go into details. Anyways I had all my trust in this guy becuase he had access to everything I got. Now that I am stuck without a programmer I am having a very dificult time trying to find someone else I trust enough to take over his duties. I am anal that way. I jsut don;t want to hand over the keys.

So I am thinking to myself can someone like me do this. Can someone with no programming background handle the control of VB? I am jsut afriad I will ++++ up and my site will be down for a week until I can find where I screwed up and /or find someone with enough talent to take over the VB duties.

Now I am jsut about to get on a brand new server and to commemorate it I want to fully upgrade both my vb sites to the latest VB version and add hacks like the store, arcade and a bunch of others. I am thinking this also. Can I somehow get a demo copy of VB3 so I can play with it add hacks and so on. Test and trial.

I can use all the help I can get. Any information that any of you can provide will help me greatly.

Sure you can learn how, all it takes is time!

First and formost, most hacks and template modifications come with good install doc's. Honestly if you know how to copy/paste and read a .txt file you can install 99% of the hacks posted on this site.

The first thing you want to do is set-up a test board, this will allow you to test modifications outside of your live communitys. You can run vBulletin on your own pc with the right software, check out this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=39482).

Learning php is not hard, it just takes awhile to wrap your brain around all the avaiable functions and how they work and interact with each other.
