forum templates... being ripped

is there anyway i can stop forum templates being ripped???

remember the guy i banned and he tried sayin we was offering illegal downloads, he is now ripping my templates i have paid for... is there anything i can do about this? i know he jacked it for the simple fact

These skins are available and others can by them too. They're not custom. Unfortunately they do circulate around on the warez scene. Absolutely nothing you can do and he's not ripping you, he's ripping the author of the skins.

yes it does seem those templates were generically made but not made for mass distribution and sale. really the only thing you can do is if the author gave you the copyrights to that work, then you could most likely take legal action. or contact his/her's host about it....

Ah when you said fusion I thought you were referring to the fusion skin made by vbskinz.com (IIRC)

If he's just copying the HTML then there's probably not much you can do as you can't copyright HTML. If he's copying the images and such too though then you could definitely take legal action and I would contact his host as well.

he will be taking the images cos he said he took the skin and will be using when his site is finished

which reminds, he hasnt got a license for his forum yet, i know that because he has asked me several times to send him hacks, ive told him to get a license, he says he cant afford it, i reported his forum to vb.com a few days ago, just curious how long usually before they do anything about it?

It depends... I've reported sites and their forum was remvoed within a week. Others still haven't been removed (though they may have bought a license for all I know).

without access to your database wouldn't ripping templates be a very time consuming process? or has he aquired them some other way? I didn't bother protecting templates, for that reason.
