Having experienced some problems lately with my ACP not reporting my version and the "view Board" Link, I decided to just make a quick modification to admin/index.php to check if vbulletin.com is actually reachable or if I'm just wasting my time.

What this script does, is check if vbulletin.com can be opened via fopen.

There is just one modification and a little code you will have to add to your admin/index.php - read the attachment for instructions.

This script has been tested on my 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 board. However I dont guarantee that it will work on any other board than mine. Although it should also work on the Betas - that is, if they use the same check.

Oh and this is my first hack - so bear with me. If you need support - post in this thread and I will try to be as helpful as possible.

Good hack, I believe it's included for vB3, so this is great for vB2 users

thanks. I was just annoyed by the fact that I never got to see the topbar when I hit abort during loading or had to wait an awfull long time so I just wrote some lines and *poof* it worked

Not a major note but in your instructions on step 2, you might want to tell people to put the code underneath the <?php tag

Some new guys might not know this thats all
