since TECK no longer offers support for vbhome and his site is no longer valid, can we remove this from the homepage?

This is what you should check with Teck but if you are asking for a legal advise the answer is NO. The line is there because of the software's license agreement and you don't have right to break the agreement just because the software development is halted or software is not supported by its author anymore. You can uninstall the software if you are not happy with its support, code or the tag line itself.
