Edit buttot not showing up... · **Released**: 07-11-2003

... just upgraded 2.2.0 to 2.3.0 and now EDIT button does not show up.

I used the Mergue method to update the PHP files. I do have many hacks in the board and all of them seem to work, but for some reason, as administrator for example, right after posting a message, EDIT button does not show up.

Where should I begin looking into?

Check the postbit template for something like:

That's the code for the edit button. If it's there, check to see if there is  around it (that will comment it out, if they are there, then remove them.)

If the code isn't there, then find:

and place the code for the edit button right after that.

I just upgraded PHP files. I did not touch the templates at all, so in which php file it does check for... permissions?

i've tried to manually edit a post (by typing the URL to editpost.php) and it works, so i guess it's just the permissions to SHOW the edit button which are screwed up...

Did you try doing what I said? Does the editpost.php code appear in the postbit template?

Couldnt find any instance of editpost.php on postbit template...

$post[editreport] is the most similar thing I have on place

Woah!

I added the editpost code u mentioned and it worked! But i wonder if $post[editreport] is part of a hack or it comes with the new set up...

Why the heck did editpost.php disappear from a customized template? That was apparently the only part missing!

You are most likely using the hack where if the post is not yours, then it will show the report button, otherwise, it will show the edit button if the post is yours. So, the buttons aren't showing up because you don't have the file changes made for the hack.

Anyways, I'm glad you have solved the issue now.
