Tricking the guest
So I was thinking today (weird) about how to get new members to join. Well, I went through the VB hacks database and found some nice hacks to help people join. One was a redirect to make a new thread after registering. That works great. The pop message to join is very annoying IMO, and has always not made me join a site. I tend to join very active sites. So how about tricking the members into having an active site. When guest go on the site they see that there are a lot of members on and guest. I think that would help encourage people to join. I don't think setting the cookie delay time is very efficient it could put a load on a sever (so I was told) Plus I like to know who's really on. So is this possible?
So basicly Guest see lots of members and guest on, and real members see whos really on. |

I don't think it would be a very good idea to do that. I'd be p***ed off if I found out the information was faked just to trick me to join.
