Posting as unregistered with proper eMail-adress
In most forums people can only write if they become registered members. For a handful of reasons some don?t.
What I?ld like to have would be a hack which gives the user a choice to register and become a regular member - or to post as an unregistered user instead with his eMail-adress. =================== What should this hack do? ===================
Anyone here who thinks this could be helpful to others too? Anyone who thinks this could be worth some time of coding? Hey Firefly, what about you man Got some time? I would really appreciate if someone could do this hack. |

Very bad idea because you'd be displaying the e-mail address publicly and spambots would be like magnets to them.

One of the reasons of register requirement is to check if user entered a valid address of his own.
In your system users can deliberately or accidently enter email address of someone else and you have no control on the issue. This also proves banning unusable because the address you ban might belong to someone else. So this would be possible without email feature. You can set guest permissions to post in certain forums then apply a one line hack to put these posts into moderation if posted by a guest and in forum X. If you are interested, this hack has been released in many threads here in request forum.. |
