little hack for vbulletin / vbindex
you can use this for daily comics, babe of the week, ...
Features
- Admin control panel
- Comics page
- vbindex thingy
I included an example script wich downloads some daily cartoons ... (Dont use it! its just an example)
this script only works on unix with wget installed and access to shell
It works this way:
- you post the url of an image on a thread (for example: weekly babe)
- use that threadID and the url of the image to add the comic in the adminCP
- Now users will be able to post comments to your image
There is a similar hack for vBPortal. I used to have that hack, but took it down because of copyright problems - basically a lot of comics are copyright-protected and licensed - you need to pay a syndication fee to be able to show them from your site. Unless the comic is public domain of course. It's a cool hack nonetheless - just make sure you are not breaking any laws.
if it is illigal ....
Is it still illigal if I put a copyright on the buttom from every comic and when they click the comic they go to the official website?
if not, just delete the hack

Yes, it is. (Sorry.)
When someone else owns the copyright, that means you have to get their permission before you can display it on your website. They own that comic (or whatever it is) and they have every right to say "no" if they want to ..... or to specify the exact terms they decide.
After you have their permission, then you would include a copyright notice with it (usually says something like "used with permission") and you would include a link back to the source, if that's what they say you have to do.

well it would still be a good hack for a forum which shows fan art, gfx, etc, or online comics

Yes, definitely. This is a great hack. We just need to be careful how we apply it and make sure we always arrange permission to display what we want to show.
I don't think most people who violate copyrights actually intend to steal something that doesn't belong to them ...... it's much too easy to make simple mistakes like this.
I'll be back to install the hack myself, once I figure out a purpose for it at our website.

Yes, that's still illegal. Don't get me wrong, you have done a great hack here... just be careful not to get caught by Universal Syndicate etc. who own the copyright to the comics.
Well the hack can be used for other purposes ..
I named it comics because I use it for that
but you could rename it to daily something or so
daily image, weekly babe, monthly website
or whatever
