Couple of questions for a new "owner"

Anyways, My liscense expired while back, im using my friends, as he asked me to hack his board. Thats why I have no site anymore

Anyways...I want to restart my site but first I want to know, If I buy a owned liscense before vb3 comes out, and get my name registered here, or leave as I am, would I still have to pay the 30$ renewal fee to access hacks.

If you do not understand, let me put it in another way
Would all current owners, who have access to vb.org be forced to pay 30$ renewal for access to vb3 hacks, or would only the new vbers be forced to pay, that join after the release of vb3.

Just wondering.... :bunny: before I jump in and get an owned, I will of course pay the 30$ but still just wondering

Also is another owned vb liscense holder allowed to download and give updates to a fellow owner that doesn't have access to the members area.

For the people who are wondering why I didn't get my liscense renew again, its because school starting, and stuff so I just stopped

If you get a owned license then you DON'T have to pay the $30 renewal fee if you want hacks only. BUT if you want to update your board then you will to renew the license to access the members area at vb.com.

I am talking about the current users who have access to the hacks right now, will they be forced to pay the 30$ renewal to access the hacks as vb3 comes out.

There has been talk of the renewal being nessecary to have access to vb3 hacks.

Also the other question was if an owned liscense holder didn't pay the 30$ renewal fee, would he be still allowed to get a copy of the updates from a fellow vber who has access.

You only need to pay 30 bucks after a year since your owned license purchase. NOT when vb3 comes out.

I would guess no as this amounts to piracy and distributing software which your not allowed to. They haven't payed the $30 renewal fee therefore are not entitled to any updates. Plus it would look like your running an warez board if you gave him a copy, even if he has an owned licence

Umm, but I thought that you get a liscense to run "vbulletin" for your site, because Im sure vbulletin is registered, so I guess if you have the liscense for the registered product it doesn't matter which version you run, because 2.2.6 or 2.2.7 is not the thing that is registered.

Anyways screw that, but I think I will get a new liscense before vb3 comes out.

But now can someone answer my other question.
-/ Will all current users at vb.org that obviously bought a liscense "before" vb3 came out, still have free access to hacks. Because I heard firefly said that as of vb3 release, to download hacks you may be required to pay the renewal, so then I am asking for the people that buy liscense before vb3, and have been using vb for awhile will they be "forced" to pay the renewal if they want access to the hacks.

I think if they do decide to enforce the rules, then they should only force new users that get a liscense after vb3 has been released to pay the update fee. And maybe issue a new form of liscense to the holders that were registered at vb.org before, this would eliminate everyone without there own liscense.

Also I think the method of adding your name at vbulletin.com to get access at vb.org should be changed to a more full proof way.
