Website en MySQL space
Hi all,
I thinking about purchase Vbulletin but I got a question for the website en MySQL space. I was reading in a topic that the more avatars en attachments you upload the bigger the MySQL database will be. Is this right? does the board store all your avatars en attachments in the sql database? or can you change this so that for example all the attachments will be stored in the normal website (example: www.yourforum.com/attachments)?? And why exactly does it stores in the SQL? is it faster then the normal site?? I ask this question because my host only offers a MySQL size of 5mb and I don't think that will be enough if I allow for posting attachments. Normal website size I can use is about 25mb. greets chiel.. |

yes it is right, vb stores custom avatars and attachments in the db. i think it's a securityreason, not to allow vb write to your ftp.
but there are also hacks out, which saves custom avatars and attachments to your ftp and not into the db, so after purchasing vb, you should download and implement those hacks. Nevertheless, 5 MB of MySQL is very low, also for vb without avatars and attachments in the DB |

normally not, if the server is as fast as the mysql-server
hmm, but you know, a clean vb installation with no custom templates and users and post aso, also uses 0.5 MB of MySQL-Space.. |
