Default Presales VB.org Forum Etiquitte and Design Question

Hi,

First time posting here. Been a (uh hum..) UBB user for awhile. Problem is, no one else has been using my forums. I've been an admire of vBulletin for some time now since one of my favorite PocketPC sites made the switch.

Anyway, I'm pretty much sold on switching to VB, but here's two questions.

First, I'd like to hook up with someone who is good at converting UBB to VB and who loves designing sites with VB. I have to get rid of the frames and I want the site to visually flow well with VB.

Also, I was thinking of posting the url for my site WoundTx.com in the "Forum Commenting" forum of this site. I realize I'd be asking people to comment on a (uh hum...) UBB, but here's the problem, (that is unless you've already looked at my BB...) there's way to many forums and I need some input on how to reduce them. Granted, my site is dedicated to a funky, medical topic, and the forums should be designed with other people knowledgeable about the topic, but I'm hopeful some folks here can help.

I'd be thrilled to know someone had a bit of time to discuss this via private email, (or on forum if the moderators think it's appropriate...).

Thanks in advance.

Rand

You can have subforums on vBulletin so you could categories them better and put them under a main category or forum.

The UBB import is really straight forward, upload the import file and then go to your vBulletin admin panel and run the import, you will then have all your posts, threads, users and even pm's imported to vBulletin. It will also import your UBB styles to be used as vBulletin styles.

Thanks PPN,

Subforums sound like it might be what I'm looking for. Is this like adding another level of organization? Is there an example of this you can suggest I look at?

I'm also looking for a BB layout that is as minimalistic and "clean appearing" as possible. Most users of my site aren't likely tech or BB competent. One of the best features I'm looking forward to is the ability to have members simply respond by email to posts and have their email posted on forum. I think I read this was possible with VB.

Anyway, an example of subforums would be great. I didn't mention this in my last post, but I do have a small budget for you or someone who would be willing and able to help me with this.

Sincerely,
Rand

There is a reply by email hack written by FireFly.

The best example of subforums is at vBulletin.com look at this url
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...?s=&forumid=19

you will see that at the top there is a forums list and threads on that page, that is within a forum, you can specify if you wish to allow users to post in a forum or is it simply a collection of sub forums.

Hi PPN,

Thanks again. The ability to add sub-forums will be helpful.

I'm trying to learn more about the email hack. It appears Chen, (FireFly) hasn't posted the email hack, but someone else has. Since I'm not a registered owner of VB, (yet), I can't view the hack, or more importantly any support discussion.

I actually tried to respond to this thread with the email response, but it hasn't posted yet. (sent it about 10 minutes ago)

Anyway, I appreciate all the help. Please email me privately if you or anyone else is competent and willing to help me out further. I want to import my UBB members and threads, install some hacks and customize my VB once I buy it.

All the best.
Rand

A repeat request for someone to assist me in redesigning and converting my UBB (with way to many forums) to a VB that'll be user friendly.

Thanks,
Rand
