If you have any problem with getting it to work on 2.2.2, just ask in there. 2.2.2 is not that different from 2.2.1, and this hack claims to work with 2.2.1, so there shouldn't be any problem.
Last time I checked, the stars hack for 2.2.1 worked fine with 2.2.2. I had installed it on my test board on my computer and it worked just as good as it did on 2.2.1.
vB 2.2.2 is not too different fom 2.2.1, just some error fixes & bug fixes, the code was not really modified too much (as far as I can see, though I am not a developer, so do not quote me on that).
It should work with 2.2.2, there is hardly that much of a change from 2.2.1 -> 2.2.2. The only thing I could think of is maybe you are using another hack that is interfering with it?
