Limit Posts per Day
Is there a way to limit the posts per day a user can make?
We have a couple of guys who like to push the limits and we need to throttle them back, preferring not to shut them down entirely. We've tried talking to them regarding this and it works for a day and then they are right back doing their old things. It would be nice to say you can post up to X times per day and then you have to wait till X - use it judiciously. Found a mod that was written for 4.0.6 but apparently, it is broken for later versions. Limit Number of Posts&Threads in Forums Within a Time Frame We are running 4.2.5 Thanks for any suggestions Paul |

Hello Paul,
You may already be aware of these two settings in the vB4 AdminCP. In Settings>>Options>>Message Posting and Editing Options...there are two settings you can adjust: 1. Minimum Time Between Posts 2. Extended Minimum Time Between Posts Of course the problem with these settings is that it effects all members. Thus here's a more creative solution...you create a new usergroup that you put these troublesome members into. One of the many settings in an individual usergroup is "Minimum Time Between Posts". In this case since this is a separate Usergroup...this setting ONLY effects forum members in this usergroup. HTH |

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for - and a unique way of doing it. Just thinking out loud, it probably could become a site 'policy' and using Rankings, (unsure if they can be reverted over time?) you could elevate the offenders into their own 'timeout' Thanks for thinking outside the box Paul |
