PhotoPost Integration with vB 5.3.1
Hi All,
We recently bit the bullet and upgraded our forum from vB 3.8.10 to vB 5.3.1. There have been several little things to take care of and tweak to make it run the way we wanted, but it's been OK for the most part. It's running pretty well in fact. One big hurdle... we had been using PhotoPost Pro 8.5 with the previous vB software, using the vB3 integration options. We knew it would be a headache to try to get PhotoPost working again, but didn't think it would be too terrible. But alas... it is... terrible. We've used the vB5 integration option (onm with vB3 off) and followed the scant instructions we could find on integrating PhotoPost with "vB50," but to no avail. As many of you know, PhotoPost is off the grid. Their forums are not available, and most functionality of their site seems to be shut down. After searching here quite a bit, I've come up with very little. I dread the answer, but I have to ask... has anyone had any success integrating PhotoPost 8.5 with vBulletin 5.3.x? Thanks, Tex |

So... no, I guess. Giving it a bump just in case.

well...i just did one to vb4 yesterday.......you might have better luck importing it on vb4 then upgrading that with a more updated gallery at least but even there, the one we used is not currently vb5 compatible....at least there is a better hope that one day it will tho.....photopost breaks on php7 what i noticed...fully...
or else perhaps as we did just take it to vb4 and sit there a year or 2 i bet you will have options by then --------------- Added [DATE]1500065122[/DATE] at [TIME]1500065122[/TIME] --------------- or perhaps you could docker a subdirectory to php 5.5(5.6 works but gives warnings) and install a mirror with the user data in place on a default vb4 and integrate it to that....then link that /gallery directory from the vb5 forum as "old gallery" but they would have to login again.... idk think creative haha i understand the frustration |

Thanks for the reply IggyP, and the outside the box thinking. I've already embarked on a similar thought to your last suggestion. Reinstate the last backup of the vB3.8 site (including database) in a different directory (with appropriate config changes), keep it hidden, but use it to drive the old PhotoPost integration, with a link to "old gallery" added to the vB5 navbar. The only cost might be disk space. And clunkiness (wouldn't be the first time). Then find a different solution for gallery needs. I'll try to remember to let you know if it worked.

In the end did you find any solution?

The way PhotoPost is built makes it incompatible with vBulletin 5.
It will only work with vBulletin 3 and 4. Like one of the other members stated, you could leave the old database of your vBulletin 3 or 4 forum up and connect PhotoPost to it whilst disabling everything else (all forum features), then have a vBulletin 5 forum as your forum with a link to PhotoPost. This is far from ideal though. |

I would seriously look into switching to Dragonbyte's gallery. Photopost is problematic these days with no support or updates.

Iggy - when you went from 3 - 4 what did you do about using the vb3 template in PhotoPost 4 - my 3.7 template won't work in 4.2.5 and so my photopost is a raw skin. Trying to make it work but the documentation is so hard to find. Any help is much appreciated .

Do as Richie suggested, Photopost isn't supported nor is it available anymore and if you happen to find some link to it ignore it, time to move on.
