Default Forum Activity into Joomla

Not looking for a modification specifically so I thought I'd post this here as it's more Joomla related than vB...

So I'm using Joomla as my CMS and homepage and vB for a forum - they're not bridged, and as it is not required in any way I don't plan on bridging them.

Does anyone here know if it is possible (and if so, the code required) to show the recent posts on the forum in a module on joomla? i.e a module using custom html

Cheers

Edit: I've somewhat successfully (it only grabs thread titles) gotten the posts to show in a module using this code, for anyone interested: http://www.blapage.com/2012/04/15/sh...letin-4-x.html. However, using a RSS feed module displaying new threads and a bit of the content looks better.

You can use an RSS feed there probably are some on the Joomla site. Maybe a stupid question but did you check on the Joomla site for any mod/component that would do what you need? On a different note you could use an RSS feed. There are some sites that you can grab free code off them to generate one. I found one that works pretty well and use it on a phpBB forum that I run. Maybe try this: http://feed.mikle.com/. You can style it how you want. you can see mine here on my phpBB forum: http://metalbootlegs.com/ look in the sidebar on the left at the top

I've gone with a RSS feed to just show new threads.. looks clean enough and doesn't require any bridging (due to the nature of our site, this would be highly unneccessary)

Yeah that is probably your best bet then. I will often use an RSS feed as opposed to something built in or something that you can install or code extra when I do not have to worry about members doing anything with the block.
