Mark B. I could really use your help
Sorry to call you out like this But I could not send you a message.
Maybe we can leave this thread running and it would help other people as well. I really want a toolbar like you have on your VB5 forum. Todays posts, blog, forum....yadda yadda. Can you help me get something like this set up? Also when my users and my self post an image using the camera in the left corner of the reply box it always shows up as a thumbnail. How can we get it to just post a regular size image? I have a growing forum and people who have payed money to be sponsors and I am losing it all because of simple problems like this image one. If I had known about the problems with VB5 I would have saved my money and went with phbb. Seeing your forum gives me a bit of hope though Can you help? Also I would gladly pay some one to help me set this forum up better than I have it. The guy I am paying now knows less than what he proposed. |

You can also try posting for assistance in the unpaid request forum or in the paid request.
You are also able to run vBulletin 4 instead under your vBulletin 5 Connect license, if vB5 is not currently your cup of tea and you continually run into issues then utilizing vB4 may be your best route - that is entirely up to you . |

I have sent you two messages after our last conversation. By your last reply you must have took my response the wrong way. I meant no harm or foul. Please view my other messages. |

Information would have to be reentered, but some of it can be simplified by cut and paste operations. Most of the time setting up a board is the logic (permissions) and flow of it. If you need a working community now with high traffic then you probably need to move back to vb4 and leave vb5 as a test board. (You might want to check with vbulletin if they will allow this, since the versions differ.) On the other hand if you can lock your board down (security-wise) and wait till some of the bugs get worked out then there is probably no since it moving. |

I absolutely believe that vb5 problems will be resolved in the future. Two years in on vb4 there were still plenty of problems too, people have just forgotten. If you are too frustrated with vb5 then starting again with vb4 will not be that difficult for you. At this point your site is still pretty simple, the thread and user count is low -- I do not mean that in a bad way. Your style can be easily ported to vb4. The largest question is how to export your existing threads to vb4, since there is no vb5 to vb4 exporter. The process is not that difficult to accomplish, either by a bit of elbow grease or a bit of code that someone will need to write.
Let me know what you plan to do and I will try to give you some pointers. |

TB I sent you a message.
Can any one help me with the avatar situation? Users are having trouble with them looking funny after uploading. Borders around them and not fitting correctly. Also they are not always able to get the part of the picture they want in the avatar box. It sort of selects a part of the image and uses that. -------------------------------------------- One more note, I went into a users account and changed his user title to a custom one, I click save changes and it I exit and it still says newbie. |
