New to vbulletin, completely lost
My company has been using vBulletin 4, the people that set it up no longer work for the company. I have been asked to make our forums site work again, I have no idea where to start. I see tutorials that talk about logging in as admin etc, I don't see any place to log in. Can I only edit my site from the server it's setup on? When you go to my site it gives this error message:
The database has encountered a problem. Please try the following: Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser. Open the www.computer-repair-experts.com home page, then try to open another page. Click the Back button to try another link. The www.computer-repair-experts.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists. We apologise for any inconvenience. ---Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, even just a little tip or where to get started, assume I know NOTHING about any of this! |

The actual database error should be sent to the email address entered into the /includes/config.php file. Go check that email and get back to us with what the exact database error is. We can't help unless we know what that error is.

Usually the error isn't shown in the page source anymore and hasn't been for many, many versions (what version are you running?). If that is the error, then either the information in the config.php file is incorrect, or this is a hosting issue and you will need to talk to your host about it.

You should remove those files from your post here immediately, you are giving away master db usernames, passwords, and so on.

Thank you for that, didn't even realize. That could have been bad.
Had to delete the post so here it is again with out the attachments: This is all going over my head. The email address is the includes/config.php is for an employee that doesn't work here anymore and that email address can't be checked. I take it I should change that email address? As far as the hosting, I'm pretty sure we are the host. We have our own server room, I just know nothing about any of that. Can I fix this from my machine or do I have to go to the computer being used as the server? |

Oh and I'm confused because we have a folder for version 3.8.4 and a folder for version 4, like we updated, but then the config.php file I was just looking at says version 3.8.4 - I have been trying to get vBulletin's tech support to help me but they say they can't because I am using an old version and they only support versions 4 and 5. But then why do I have a folder that says version 4?
