My daily ramble ...
I've gotten to the point that whenever I see the word. "lite" on an add on or product, I pass it by.

So does that mean if a mod has a free version and a paid version, you won't use it?

I understand the frustration but could be a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face- it's not like there are hundreds of modifications being added a day here... Would suggest you take the 5 minutes it may take to actually read the features of a "lite" mod before dismissing it.
I put out a lot of completely free mods, but to keep this fun requires a good laptop, software, equipment, etc... and that costs money- so I do some paid mods to pay for these kinds of things. I use the "lite" AKA "free" versions because it is the only way mod authors have to advertise here and this is the site anyone looking for custom mods browse. If there was a paid directory listing of mods frankly I would probably not have bothered with several "free" versions though I would certainly still have dozens of completely free mods. |

It put a bad taste in my mouth that really erks me. There are some trusted developers I always check out. Maybe I should have noted that in my initial post. |

Not sure who the developer in question is, don't want to know, but I tend to think they deserve some slack (I guess since I've a developer myself.) I personally was in the Hospital September 9 to 20th so I didn't have much time to check in on mod threads. Even if I signed in to this forum to see what was going on I just wasn't in the mindset to deal with technical questions. Still am not in some respects.
So if that can happen to me, the same could happen to any developer here at any time- and most probably aren't in a rush to advertise their medical issues on a public forum. |

Think of it this way, the developer I think you may be talking about has 105 releases, over three versions of vB. With about 9200 installs marked on here alone.
Now also has installs of the paid versions, and those who get the free versions from the dev's site, so you are looking in upwards of 10,000 installs (conservatively). So lets say you own a paid version of the mod, if the developer was to spend all his time on here answering posts for the lite version, most of which have already been answered, your support for the paid version would suffer. The developer does state in the mods, "Priority support for this version is handled at the Developers Website." So by going to their site and posting the issues, they do get handled much quicker. Remember, there is no rule as to when or if a developer has to answer a users query. Yes I do think if the dev is running free and paid versions, they should show their support ability's by answering as soon as possible, but this is sometimes very difficult on here as things tend to get lost in the posts. This is why a dev may provide better support on their site, having a means of tracking issues. Let's look at Christos, he has left the community for the reasons I described above. At times there have been developers that will post a mod on here but only support it on their site. Most of the developers on here go above and beyond for the end user, supporting many free mods, without so much as asking for a dime. Just my 2cents. |

I'm sticking to my original post. I'm not asking anyone to do the same, just stating my opinion that's all.

Completely understandable, I was just making sure you look at both sides of the coin is all.
I mean nothing bad by my post, so I hope you did not take it that way. |
