Minimize Bounced Emails
Anyone who has a forum thats been around awhile, likely has a problem with users who dont visit anymore and maybe have changed emails. This is difficult to deal with and I have a way that I think can help with this, but need someone to take up the project.
First, the admin would create an "Inactive" usergroup. Once a month, a cronjob would look for users who's last activity / login was in excess of 6 months prior. Those users would be placed in the "Inactive" usergroup and sent an email. The email would explain they were being moved to the inactive status if they didnt login, and wouldnt receive further emails if they didnt come to the site and login. Upon logging in, a panel would display their email address as it is recorded, and the user would have to confirm it is still a good email address. (they would have a chance to change the email at this point as well) Those who dont login would remain in inactive status. That usergroup would be set with no posting privaleges, and no Admin Emails / Subscription Emails / PMs until they login and confirm their email. Then they would be returned to their regular usergroup. This could drastically minimize the emails sent by an older site. Can someone code this (or something like it) for vb 3 & 4 please? |
