Category Styles [Frontpage View]
Hey everyone, does anyone know by any chance if it's possible to have the different categories each have their own style but being able to view the styles on the front page?
I'll give an example of a gaming forum. As all of you know there are different categories on a forum, each one of those categories would be a different game and each have their own forum. Now after I make a style would I be able to make it to where each category would have its own kind of style but all viewable before they actually enter it? Let's say I have a style called Empathy. Your looking at the front page and on there you see that the Cod4 category is designed to match cod4, Diablo 3 category is designed to match Diablo, and so on with Battlefield 3 and whatnot. Any Ideas? I know you can set the forums to have a custom style but I don't want it to have the custom style when they go in it. I want them to be able to actually see a style matching that game on the front page. Sorry for repeating everything a few times, I'm just trying to explain it in different ways in case someone doesn't understand what im asking. |

Just use some CSS to modify it on the main page. All the categories have unique id tags - cat1, cat5, etc, so you can use that for your custom CSS.

As i use my site for my xbox 360 clan i understand what you want and mean mate BUT
With new games coming out the above would mean you changing that each time to suit the new games and/or remove the old games What i would do is simply just add an image to the cat via admin |

Sorry for being so late with a reply, I've been extremely busy. Thanks for the info Lynne.
@betts02, I understand where your going with that but the only thing is that I won't be needing anything for newer games. It's going to be a little network of servers but only for specific games. A new game would be voted on and I wouldn't mind at all to design a new category for that game. I'll post examples soon of exactly what I'm talking about. |

Sorry for the months long delay. Life's been pretty crazy. I'm finally stable and capable of resuming this. I just made a quick example of what I'm looking to do. |

Yes, just create some custom CSS and put the cat id in front of it (#catx) and you should be able to modify it. We really can't get more specific without a link to the site and more specifics from you about what you want done.

Karma I want to do something like I made in that picture example. A different design for each category that can be displayed on the front page without having to change styles. I'll try out the css you mentioned and let you know. |

It looks like you are doing OK with your custom CSS.

Thanks, I'm just having a little issue getting the tiny logo for each section at the top. I'm going to try creating it as a PNG and raising the height and see how it goes.
