pictures next to forum thread category?

Hi there im looking to add different icons at the start of the forum category that it relates to, for example call of duty forum has a call of duty logo next to it and gears forum has gears icon next to it to make the forums look more presentable.

at the moment ive looked in the stylevars area of the thread in the template area of the admincp that i want the icon in, my icons are 60x60 but the themes default size is 16x16 although i change it to 60x60 it seems to resize my icon to 16x16 is thier a way for it to not resize then the icons can display in thier original size of 60x60

any help is much appreciated
