I only have FTP access, and owner administrator access to my website. (My account is account number 1 on the site)

The forum I have is stored on a shared VPS server where I'm not provided backend access. Wondering -- is there a way I can copy my DB (i'm trying to move to a different host on my own).

Or should I get something like a backup plugin to do this?

Maybe worth checking the New host as they may well do the work for you as part of moving over to them.

Good point.

But I'm always confused when a site admin admits they aren't making regular local backups. Do they think someone else is doing this for them?
