Disqus VB4 Integration
Hi,
As I'm sure plenty of you have noticed, disqus has grown in popularity incredibly over the past 12 months, being adopted by many sights as a way to encourage browsers to easily comment by using their Facebook/Twitter/Google etc logins rather than having to register. I think that we are in the middle, and have even passed a fundamental shift away from site specific registrations. I have no doubt that users are much more likely to engage if they can do so easily. Because of this, I feel that our vB installation is completely undermined by it's registration system. I appreciate that user's can login via Facebook, but they still have to register, and it is not easy or clear for them to post a comment to an article or thread. Because of this, I have been looking closely at how we can use disqus for non-registered users, with their comments and input being added to any thread of article - this I see as the best of both worlds, with those who wish still being able to register, and casual browsers also being able to easily become active. With that in mind, I have searched high and low for even a sniff of such an integration, and the only significant thing I can find is this string on the disqus developers forum in Google groups; http://groups.google.com/group/disqu...d83ff7c79a0886 I am currently speaking to 'seths' to see if his development team can help - but I am also keen to see if anyone on the VB.org community has also looked in to such an integration or if I have somehow missed a mod that somehow accomplishes this. Appreciate any help anyone can provide. |

Seems like this will never come.
I may just make the switch to using facebook comments or the up and coming google comments all together. I know the current users that have racked up post counts and seniority will be upset, but may seem like the way to go in the long run. I like disqus/intensedebate/livefyre, but don't want to pay monthly |

If I can't get disqus on my vbulletin I will have to stop using vbulletin and start to use something else.

Anyone come up with anything on this yet? I'm also considering dropping the CMS commenting system altogether, but don't know enough yet.
