Live Topic port to VB4
<a href="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201228" target="_blank">Live Topic</a> was my members favorite modification, but it unfortunately does not work with vb4.
There was a group who released a beta version for vb4 on their website, but this was riddled with bugs and there hasn't been any word from them since the original release. They are not apparently interested in releasing this modification on vbulletin.org either... Is anyone willing to release an update of this modification for vbulletin 4? Thanks. |

No one can release an update for live topic but the original author- and even that it seems like he sold the rights to the mod to another developer.
Someone would have to write a new mod from scratch that does the same thing as live topic, but they couldn't simply update live topic. |

What if the original author never releases it again or the company that bought it never does anything with it then this awesome mod is just lost to bureaucracy? That really sucks when a mod is free at one point then it get's monetized the other or never heard from again because someone wants to be selfish. I don't mind paying for it but at least make it available, I wouldn't mind paying $100+ for live topic for vb4. It's the whole issue about having to move to vb4 from vb3, if you don't have all the same mods you really can't make the switch and not expect members to leave or expect more than you offer just because it looks prettier than vb3 or at least have the dev specify that that mod will NOT be supported in other version of vb. Don't get me wrong I fully appreciated the devs work, I am actually starting to dev myself, just saying if your gonna do something do it right and follow through and not half way. Just my 2 cents, sorry to vent, just this has happen to me before when I made the switch to vb4, I understand it can be very frustrating.

Your other option is to pay someone to update the modification *for your use only* (you cannot go and release the mod yourself after having it updated).

Very good to know Lynne, I thought you could not even ask someone to do it for you even if you paid them. It makes sense as long as it's not redistributed I suppose. Thanks for the info Lynne. Happy 4th btw

I stalked down Live Topic version 2 for vb4 but their site is down.

This was a neat mod but it was so fragile that practically any other significant mod killed it.

I don'y know that I can agree with that. I've got over 50 mods running and live topic works fine on my 3.8 forum.
