There was a mod for this for vB3.x. Have you found that and asked teh dev if they will be updating it to vB4.x?

Have a look at this Template Modification "New style for New Thread, Quick Reply Full, Quick Edit Full"

Its for vB 4.1.x .. I use it on 4.1.3
