Up-grade from Version 4.0.8
I just installed 4.0.8 and I see that the 4.1.0 is now out.
What I'd like to ask is that I've installed a lot of Modifications from here and also made a lot of template edits for these Modifications. So when up grading do I upload and over write all files in my root folder? If so won't that just make it that all my template edits I did to the default style be gone? Any help would be nice on this, thanks. --------------- Added [DATE]1291610149[/DATE] at [TIME]1291610149[/TIME] --------------- Oh, I have also changed the color style for the default style, so how do I not loose that too? |

updating is something that should be done...but in the end it is up the forum owner. notice how alot of forums still run on 3.8.x well its because sometimes updating can destroy a good forum. no one ever said you must update, it is just advised,,, now, if you take the proper steps in securing your forums safety, you may get away with not having to ever update as alot of forum owners do.
the thing about updating is, you should make a myphp back and sql back and vbbackup.. You make this backups just in case the new update conflicts with mods , styles and edits you may have done..... it is up to you , no one can be sure if your update will go smooth or not. This is why you back up your entire myphp, sql and vb just in case mods , edits dont take you can revert... |
