Version 1.0.0
Release Date: 15th September 2010

Software Provided and coded by AWCoding

What Software Is:
Have you ever wanted to restrict SSL access to certain usergroups and allow them to turn it on and off. Well this is the software for you. You can restrict access to usergroups from using SSL. You can allow access for others who then can turn it on and off in user settings. This will force SSL on all pages of the site until they turn it off and prevents users from using SSL without permission too.

I would like to see a mod that does not "unlog" you if you change between https or http. Problem is performance takes a hit under https protocol and if you are monetizing your website with Google Adsense, IE will generate an security dialog saying your website is unsecure. Others will display an icon in the status bar and when you click on that, you get the same type of dialog.

Quite frankly, this should be built into vB by default. It's like Jetsoft keeps finding all sorts of reasons why not instead of finding a way to get the job done.

Installed on 4.1.3. Only trouble is i use the CMS version. When you click home the SSL doesn't stay with you.

Some help with the IE error would be more than appreciated. I've been advising people to use chrome. Some people will avoid the feature from the IE error box alone.

Great mod, exactly what i was looking for.

Installed on 4.1.7 and appears to work fine in latest versions of FF, IE and Chrome! I run the Suite and the CMS works fine.

Excellent mod, surprised its not more popular! I doubt the usefullness of SSL but the punters are demanding it...I guess it gives that forum security placebo effect on the members! Oh well, they'll be keen to donate now!

Cheers

just a quick one for vBSEO users, if you disable the SSL and your .htaccess is set to https://www.domainname.com then the 'Likes' system will not operate. Obviously this is not an issue with this mod but just more of a heads up. I'm going to bring it up over at vBSEO...but I won't hold my breath because I think they're pretty much not convinced with SSL...

I've downloaded and installed the mod. I've configured SSL with webhosting and static page works fine with HPPTS. But when viewing forum, it wont view anything, just a blank all white page.

My hosting configure cPanel + Apache (80)+ NGINX (8081)

Any idea how to solve this ?

I have an issue...

I run a large site with my .css, images attachment being hosted via a cloud server. I also have ads which are served by the various ad agencies.

If I use this it asks me if I want to display the unsecure content, if I say no my site looks like crap. (but thats ok...)

The reason why I need SSL on my site is I have a number of companies on my site providing customer support. This support includes things like account numbers, passwords and even credit card numbers being sent via PM's.

I want to make the connection more secure for these companies (who have their own usergroup) and would like to make it so that SSL only kicks in while this usergroup is in private.php doing private messaging.

My system is running on NGINX with vBSEO installed. As I said images, css and attachments are cashed via cloud servers using MaxCDN.

I would be willing to pay to get this to work for them on private.php.

Any ideas?
