Problems after malware attack
Before the malware attack I was having problems with my site in the form of navigating my site and receiving "Page Not Found" errors on IE and "Content Error Code Unsupported form of Compression" on Firefox. My service provider suggested to correct this by turning off GZIP, which has corrected the problem. I can only assume that the made changes to their server as this has not been an issue in the past year that our site has been active.
Shortly after correcting the problem above I received a notice from Google that my site was infected by malware that might harm users. I took action in the form of contacting my provider (gigapros) to clean there servers of the malware which they did. Since the cleaning I have numerous problems: #1 While trying to edit a post, the save button does not work, a little circle spins by the button and stops without any action. I have to use the advance button to make an edit. What is strange is that if I do try and post via the save button nothing happens and when I back out of my site and re-enter the post is edited #2 When accessing the Admin CP the expandable table column on the left side is not accessible when in collapsed mode. It is similar to the save button issue above, nothing happens but a small circle spinning for a few seconds. If I set the column to expand I can access all functions #3 Today when accessing the who's on line function, I noticed that my members and guests seem to be looking at posts for hours. I tested with another computer and a fake member to see if who's on line would tract the fake members location as I moved through the site and it did. However I know that the members and guests are not staying on one post for over 8 hrs. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated |

1. Create a NEW default style and see if the errors occure in that new and "fresh" style. 2. Reupload a fresh copy of all your vBulletin files, go to the Members Area on vb.com and download the SAME exact version your running now and then overwrite the files on the server. If neither work come back and post, If I don't come back to this post or no one else posts PM me and I'll return when I have time . |

Threads, posts, forums, users, etc are kept in the database, so you should be able to upload a fresh copy (of the exact same version) of vBulletin without losing anything, as long as you haven't modified the php files. There are some things that can be kept in the file system so you probably shouldn't delete any directories unless you're sure you're not losing anything.
ETA: it never hurts to have a backup of your database, so you might want to to that if you haven't already, then you could go about trying to restore things without worrying too much. |
