How do I port an existing 3rd party script to vB3?
I have a client who wants to take an existing 3rd party script, and basically convert it into a product for vBulletin. He does have permission to do this, and hired my company to do it. However, the lead developer on the project is not able to do it due to some personal and health issues, so I'm left to do it, and I have miniscule experience with this sort of thing.
So what I'm asking is for some pointers on what needs to be done with a non-vB script to make it work with vB. I believe that most of the script will work as is, once it can "speak to" the vBulletin software. Any help would be appreciated, though I'm not asking for in-depth instructions, just something to get me started. I can't give much more detail in this post, so feel free to PM or email me with questions or other input. Thanks! |

So then link whatever it is that he wants converted so that we have an understanding on how it works & what it does.

If it's necessary, I'd be glad to, but not in this thread. I'm not specifically tied to a NDA, but the agreement we have is close enough that I don't want to make certain things public.
I'm basically wondering if there are some routine things that makes a script interact with vBulletin that I should know about. But if it's not that simple then I prefer an offsite dialog with someone who might be able to help. |

If anyone can help me it would be appreciated. I'm on a strict deadline and need to know ASAP. It's not hard to email or PM me. I don't want to take the chance of upsetting my client by saying too much in this thread. It's extremely important. Thanks.

I would start by reading some of the programming articles in our Articles section.
There are no simple instructions to convert "any" script, it all depends on the details. |
