Importance of Holidays
Hello everyone, I was talking to one of my moderators about a month ago and he was asking me why don't we have holiday announcements. I never really gave it much of a thought but i decided to open a poll asking people if there would be interested in celebrating holidays on the forum, and it turns out that a lot of people really liked the idea. I so i decided to give it a try and it turns out that since we started celebrating holidays, specifically Thanksgiving we got almost 100 new users over a 3 day period. That's about 10 times more then usual. Some tips to celebrate. - Create a theme based on that holiday - Hold holiday contests - give holiday awards - Think of other ideas be creative. Here is a list of holidays that me and my staff came up with. Code:
New Years Day January 1 Martin Luther King Jr. January 19 Groundhog Day February 2 National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day February 7 St. Valentine`s Day February 14 Lincoln's Birthday February 12 George Washington's Birthday February 22 Carnival / Mardi Gras February 24 April Fool's Day April 1 Easter Sunday April 12 Earth Day April 22 Veterans Day November 11 Thanksgiving November 26 Christmas December 25 |

Nice advice. I find it's definitely a popular thing when a forum changes the style or what not after the holiday in question, although don't forget there are more countries than just the USA...
