Upgrading and data loss question
Hello everyone
I'm using vb v3.7 at the moment and I want to upgrade to v3.8. However, having never upgraded a vbulletin board before I have a question - does upgrading my version mean I'll lose some data, such as threads, posts, or skins? Thanks! Kate xxx |

And, of course, you're backing up your database daily anyway, right? And your whole site monthly? So I don't need to remind you to do a backup before upgrading.

On shared hosting, I back up the whole site as part of my monthly maintenance routine via Cpanel.

When i upgrade, I do sql backup, then i upload files and run upgrade.php. I have never lost anything and i have always left my forum open, members don't even realize I am upgrading except for a few glitches in my chatbox. Usually takes about a minute to run the upgrade script. You will loose nothing upgrading.
