Not 100% on this, but using a java client behind SSL to access another system might go agasint the normal SSL rules. Even then unless you're connecting via secure link to the irc, it wont be secure either. Further, IRC itself isn't very secure.

I know that IRC is too old as system but... is the most used.
A lot of people usually use an unique client to connect to severals Irc servers. If I try a different chat for my forum, probably, only a poor % of the usual users will install a second client only for my chat. |
