Bit of a bad time to make a new forum for new modification ideas?
Dunno, just the fact vBulletin 4 is out in a short while and completely and utterly changes the entire style and plugin structure, wouldn't it be a better idea to wait until release rather than come up with ideas for a version people probably won't be using for much longer?

I would guess that a lot of users will continue to use 3.8, just as there are several forums I see still using 3.6 and 3.7.

What is "a short while" ?
Besides, there is never a bad time for new ideas. |

I think it's a good idea for coders and designers to collaborate on ideas. 2-3 years ago.
The creation of the new area seems to me like it may be a case of the developers at jelsoft suffering from a touch of burnout on ideas for the upcoming vbulletin series. Why not simply rename the area to "we need your help"? Community collaborative sounds nice instead of "the hatchery" which reminisce a group of chickens hen pecking one another, in a pen, fighting with one another who will sit on the next egg layed to keep it warm. Regardless of that, I think the new forum and ideas that could explode into something special could bring some nice projects into the pipeline if the ideas aren't stolen. |

I believe that the creation of the new forum allows for developers to look into what modifications they should develop, based on the users' wants, say developerxyz asks about this type of modification (heck, lets say a cms) and wants to see the users' input. He has the full intention of creating the modification if the userbase that would like to see it (instead of using the vbulletin cms) is high / popular enough.
I believe it's a really good idea. |

It's actually a forum for them to post an idea they wish to turn into a modification and get input. That is different than looking into developing a modification that another user requests.

The forum is not limited to any vBulletin version, so not too sure what this critisism means.
A good idea could be implemented on any version. |

lol. Everyone really needs to stop assuming that everyone's going to go crazy developing vBulletin 4 mods right off the bat.
What about we start taking bets for how many people are going to stick to 3.8 and how much work is still left in the series as far as devs are concerned? A lot Don't get me wrong, vB4 will have it's add-ons and what not (maybe not too many this year), but developers have to go with where the majority and business lay, and as far as I'm concerned, the majority and business lay in 3.8 and will for quite some time. Anyway, I think it was a great idea. I'm sure a few of us will begin utilizing it once the rules are cleared up a bit - no one wants to start that forum off with yet more infractions. What I find crazy (yet 100% understandable) is how people have posted such threads time and time again and they just get deleted and moved on. The second IB posts their thread and it gets deleted, they realized they made a mistake and add a forum for such things? I guess all I can say is, thank you IB |
