2 forums using 1 userbase
Hi there, i know its probably been asked before but i cannot find out threads which help me with how to do this.
Basically i have 1 database that contains different tables for 2 forums. 1 Forum is a gears forum active with 2500 members and has a table prefix of gears_'tablename' The other forum is a new one we are setting up for call of duty which was installed using the cod_'tablename' prefix. The reason they are done like this is so we can have 2 independant sites for the games but they share one user db so if your signed up on one, your signed up on the other. This saves having to register twice and makes it easier and better for the users. One question is how do i set the cod forum up to use the gears user table. I have searched the config file and could not see how to do this. Is there some other file in which i need to edit? Thanks Alec |

There is no simple solution for this. You can not just use the user-table of another database. It would at least give problems with permissions etc (usergroups will also need to be the same on both boards for example).

if i was going to do this anyway how would i go about changing it so different things used different tables in the database. |
