Does anyone watch Shameless in the UK
I've heard of this for some time and watched it for the first time the other night, what a nightmare way to live
I was expecting to just watch a few minutes but ended watching the whole episode Now it was funny to be honest, but do people really live like this?? For those that don't know what i'm on about heres a summary.... Shameless - Paul Abbott's critically acclaimed, offbeat drama about the rollercoaster lives and loves of the dysfunctional Gallagher clan. This is one family where father definitely does not know best... It's been a tough year for our Chatsworth residents: we've seen them survive benefit fraud, brothels, stints in jail, stings-gone-wrong, fake suicides, cold turkey, lesbian romps, lingerie parties, abandonment and a family torn apart and put back together again. What else could possibly happen? Patrick has lost his grip on his marriage and family - still haunted by dreams of his kidnapper, he resolves to banish his demons in order to take back control. A man on a mission, he tracks down the woman responsible for what he has become - Maureen. Consequently, the Maguires will never, ever be the same again. Frank becomes a self-styled martyr, but to his horror he discovers his child benefit has stopped. And so he sets out on a rampage of justice in an attempt to get it back. Meanwhile, Maxine still harbours secret feelings for an oblivious Carl. When he embarks on a VIP night out, blagging his way into an exclusive club, Maxine comes up with a plan to teach him a lesson. And with Mandy preparing to move in with Joe, Karen's guilt gets the better of her and she braces herself to tell Mandy her shocking secret. Its one of those programs that you need to watch before you can try and explain it to anyone, Not the UK's version of prison break or 24, but certainly interesting. I'll see if i can find some clips to add heres one which isn't too rude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2_LY0Qw0ns |

Never liked shameless, reminds me of the series the royle family. The british nowadays have lost touch in creating good solid tv series in my opinion. Nothing that will keep me viewing it. Take prime evil for instance, what a load of ole crock. Dr who is another, far too over rated and only living off the franchise that everyone seems to love these days.
I think there's a few series I like, cracker was one (robbie coltrane) and the old poirot (david suchet) lol yeah I enjoyed these and watch them on uk gold. Anyway, back to shameless. I never liked watching it. |

shameless is far superior to prime evil and does not even come in the same mould as prime evil is basically for kids and Shameless with its adult content is for adults.
Ive watched every series of shameless and must admit they are good but i still prefer the 1st series when verionca was in it. I dont think u get many families like the Gallaghers,as its made even worse as they want the shock factor and thats what tv is all about aint it ?? Remember Boys from the black stuff that was good in its day. I cant stand Cracker or Poirot as to me these programs are made for old woman so they can fall asleep while watching them |

I wasn't comparing them. I was stating how crappy the british make shows and think the tv reality genre is the late great innovative idea. They let us down badly, shameless is like jeremy kyle on steroids with a bigger budget and equally as crap. With the bbc and itv cutting their budgets (blaming the lack of advertising) dunno what the bbc's excuse is (maybe sack Johnathon ross) that will release some funds I'd expect and bring back great viewing (not the period drama crap that the bbc thinks we all like.
Tv series is something the americans do well and are leagues above the british. A fact. edit: I'm 25 lasto. Your calling me old? maybe i am in the mind. I do enjoy watching sherlock holmes (basil rathbone and nigel bruce) boxset regularly. |

Have never heard of it. Wonder if its on BBCA (BBC America).
Only British show that I watch currently is "11th Hour" with Patrick Stewart. Its better than the American version in my opinion. Used to watch "MI:6" (think that's what it was called) as well. Oh and I watch the nightly world news show. |
