Is this what everyone is using to have notifications pop up when members log in?

I really want something that allows me to alert people to news and updates on the site which is on the front page and in some cases in a popup that can be dismissed and subsequently does not show to that member again.

That mod is for VB3.0 it more then likely will not work for VB 3.5 and above. I don't know off hand of any mod like what your wanting for any later versions. But there are mods that will force a user to view a thread, such as an announcement/update thread.
