UKBL ~ Selling on Ebay Link in Postbit

Want to allow members the choice of adding an ebay logo to their postbit?? prevent unindended spamming of threads with members ads??? Well now you can

A simple to do Ebay logo in your Postbit so Members can advertise their ebay goods for sale

Just go to your admin cp and make a User Custom profile field Called "My ebay Sales"

and add this to the description = Add your Ebay user name below to show other members what you have for sale

Make a note of the field number as this is what we are going to add to our Code. For example, we'll use Field10

Your User CP should now have a Field like this



Add this template conditional, to prevent guest and non registered from seeing your link, Replace the X's with your UserGroup ID

The Code goes here !!

So our code should look something along the lines of this, Remember you need to replace the Red parts with your own information

<a href="http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/$post[field10]" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" title="Click to View my Sales">
<img alt="My Ebay Sales" border="0" src="http://www.yourforum.com/images/misc/ebay.png" border="0"/>

Then we need to Upload our ebay logo to our forums directory images/misc folder and replace the image url in the code with our own url.



Now to add our Code

In template postbit_legacy or postbit:

find

<div>$post[icqicon] $post[aimicon] $post[msnicon] $post[yahooicon]

and below it add your code

Thats all there is to it and now members can if they want add the ebay logo to their posbit and advertises their goods for sale, without spamming

I made this for a guy whose members kept on posting links to their ebay sales, other members were complaining about the excess spam on the forums, Now they'll be able to add, their Ebay username to their UserCP and get their very own Ebay logo in their postbit.

That stopped the spam overnight

I've done a ton of mods but for some reason I am not understanding that portion, and I do not see it in the OP.

Look at the code below

You'll see the code which you need to add to your postbit and the conditional what we're talking about is in red the top line and the bottom </if>

Just change the numbers in the top line of the conditional to the usergroups that you want the ebay link to be displayed to.
