If you didn't perform the backup, then there is no way to go back.
I wouldn't take your friends assumptions as being correct either. If you feel that your site is at risk, take further security precautions. ie... htaccess protect your admincp & modcp Install a firewall Install suhosin Install modsecurity Plenty of security solutions to prevent getting hacked. |

Your friends are very very wrong.
If you want to use the 3.7 range, then you should at least use the latest stable version: 3.7.5. Several security updates have been released since 3.7.3. Also there are no known vulnerabilities in 3.8.1 so i don't know why your friends came with this claim (unless they want you to be insecure). |
