test forum/database
Ok--I might be doing something silly.
But I am getting ready to upgrade to 3.8 but I have a decently modified forum.. So let me know if I have done this all wrong. So I backed up all of my files. I have another host I will be running it on and once done deleted. So I moved all the backed up files to the other host. I then created a new database to use.. At this point I also changed the config.php file to reflect the database info change. Now I keep getting database errors (forum doesn't even load). Did I do it all wrong |

Since you did not mention, did you also move the database?

No--I just created a new database since what was in the database really wan't important...
Did I mess up |

If your database is big, you might want to use something like mysqldumper to backup and restore your database. Database management is an important issue since all your content is in there |

There is also a nice guide on moving servers in the vBulletin Manual (although it assumes you have SSH access).
