I have several mods installed and I no longer want them. I am also running a slightly older version of vB (3.6.x) and plan on upgrading to the latest version (3.7).
So, I'm wondering what would be the best way to get rid of all the mods and upgrade the forum. (and keep in mind I am clueless about it all, and was NOT the one that installed the mods). If I just run the upgrade scripts, what happens to the mods? Will leaving them laying about bother the the way the rest of the forums work? If so, how do I "fix" that? Maybe do a fresh install and import the data with Impex? If I should uninstall the mods first, what is the best way to get rid of them? In the end, I want a CLEAN install of vBulletin with NO mods. The only thing aside from straight vB is a few template changes (custom footer, Adsence ads, custom menu) and I can do all those things without issue....it's just that I'm rather clueless once I leave the ACP. |

The path of least resistance is to uninstall all the mods and do an upgrade. If the mods you have installed are well behaved, you will essentially have a clean system though its not the same thing as doing a clean install and importing your current forum to the new one. It really depends on how determined you are to have a really clean system in the end.
In any event, make sure you have a backup before you do anything. HTH |

Heh, what is all involved in uninstalling the average mod?
My average mods: GARS 2.1.4 (currently only on a non-public board, as I actually don't care for it, so it's removal will not effect the populous) getinfo 1.2 Miserable Users 2.12 Real ip detection 2.25 theme v 1.1 vBadvanced CMPS 2.2.1 (vB 3.6) vbgooglemap Member Edition by StonyArc 2.5.2 (with an edit to link it to "location" in the postbit) Zoints Thread Comments 1.2.0 |

Removing any file uploads, template edits, and then going into the plugin/product manager and "Uninstall" from the drop down

I'm in the same boat. but I have v3.5 and would like to upgrade to the latest version and re-apply all my mods.
I have arcade, chat and phpspell as the major addons. I would prefer to not lose the arcade scores. Now I've done some slight changes to the navbar to add Chat and Arcade options. I would like to keep the upgrade downtime to a minimum maybe 2 days most. |
