Image Link
Please move if in the wrong section.
We have a new member who is posting a small image (1 x 1 pixel) in their posts with a link. Is this link something to worry about as this is the first time on our site that we have seen this. And if it is are there ways of stopping this but still allow members to post images? Thanks! - http://q08e1020mioa127.dynamicnaviga...rk/tracker.gif |

tracker.gif is most likely a PHP/Perl script which spits out a blank image, but in the process logs the requester's IP, user agent etc. Maybe he's using it as a way of logging the IP of everyone who views the thread, or maybe something else. Either way, his motives look suspicious.
Not sure how you'd prevent a user from posting these images, other than banning him or disallowing his usergroup from posting images |

No what it is, is cookie stuffing. He's hoping you dont catch the image, what it does is plant a cookie on users machines, who then if they sign up for something he gets credit for the sale and makes money.
You should just remove all his posts and ask him not to come back by banning him. Any post with 1x1px images, or images that don't appear should be removed. If an image appears then its probably not cookie stuffing. |
