If you mean a certain SEO-related product, which costs almost as much as the vBulletin license, I would suggest otherwise. That product's snake oil marketing techniques ought to put anyone off.

Yes, if you do a search for SEO-related stuff in the mods area, you'll find plenty of good stuff to work with.

If you mean a SEO plugin for vB, then yes, it is hard to find free and good one. If you mean just search engine optimization for your forums, then you need to learn SEO principles for all sites first and then learn the specific sides of vBulletin to make it search engine optimized. No third way

Here are a few threads on some free things you can do to optimize vbulletin
but for the money, I would always suggest vbseo if your forums are viewable by guest.. (which everyone seems scared to say..lol)

I'd go and spend the money for vbseo. I bought it about 2 months ago, had 7,000 pages indexed, it dropped to like 400 and now its at 52,000!

page indexed have nothing to do with vbSEO... Google periodically drop the indexed pages to re-index them... you can also have millions of pages indexed without being found a single time when people search for your keywords -- reason is that you are not alone on the internet.

if you base the trafic on your site only on SEO, even the guys at vbSEO will tell you that it's the wrong way to do it... you have to build your community first, not the opposite.

I wrote them twice and they never bothered to respond. I suspect it requires a license to get answers, and you can do what vBSEO does (in reality, not with the functions you check that do nothing) can be replaced with free mods. At least that's my experience.

Peace,
Gene
