Facebook Forums - Bringing the community together
Name: Mike Jarvis
Email: admin@facebookforums.org Position: Forum Administrator Forum name: Facebook Forums - Bringing the community together Forum type: vBulletin Website: www.facebookforums.org Assigned release date: Sept 27th (May change if accepted) Language: Currently only in English. I do however plan to purchase more licenses and eventually translate the forums to them. I am hoping to add sub domains such as (Poland: pl.facebookforums.org) and it would take you to the polish based forum, ect. The main objective is to get Facebook users to interact and socialize with one another, meet people from different parts of the world, and possibly travel and meet new people because of this forum. Many people don't understand that they can gain a lot just from meeting new people and learning new things on the internet. It may lead them to be a successful website owner like Mark (owner of facebook, releasing Facebook.com on Feb. 4th/04 and in 2007 made a cash earnings of $100 Million. (I am just going by the earnings in '07 posted on wiki). All I really need is Facebook Users support and help by advertising the forums, and possibly if needed, funds. The forum already accepts donations, hopefully that's all I'll really need if I have your support. I have already talked with my high school administrative staff and they are interested in supporting my project. Please feel free to contact me by email, a response to this message or private message me on the forums. Regards, Mike Jarvis |

Chris made an awesome style, that's for sure.
However, please keep in mind Facebook is free, and it isn't receiving it's money out of donations (actually they are, but only for development). Facebook is getting its money out of content. Optimize things like Nexia said, don't use the word 'copyrighted', and create (not gather/not copy) original content. I however do have to say the idea is sort or original, just too bad most 'good' domainnames are already parked somewhere. I still would say in this situation, sell the domain and keep looking for a similar .com or .net domain instead. |

Its plain and simple. Not over the top like most forums. Well done with this
I hope your community expands and moves to great lengths. |

First of all, the style is nice, but the forum icons do not match the style in the least. Do not just modify the default, and if you have them, just use the icons that came with the style you applied to your forum, which are likely a hundred times better.
Way too many empty forums. Fill them with content, but also try merging them into a smaller list like so: Facebook General Forum News Facebook News Introductions Facebook Talk Gemeral Facebook Chat Facebook Applications Groups Facebook Events General The Lounge Help and Support Technical Support and Feedback That's it. Don't add irrelevant forums at this point in time, just keep it very simple. Also, see my redone forum ordering, you should keep the topical forums about Facebook near the top of the page where they're most visible, since those are the reason for your forum. Move feedback to the bottom of the forum page as well. Change default icons for users, stats, etc. They don't quite fit the style you're using. Get some new smilies rather the default ones. Maybe ask the Facebook staff for some smilies used there in groups or forums? Again, keep the default images out, and use your Facebook style images for the buttons and stuff. Blue around the default icons does not a good image make. Remove staff applications. It's not quite a good idea to go for staff as soon as the forum is open, wait until there's more activity. In all though, your forum style is nice, you have some good choices in forum structure for the topical forums and it suits the theme. Need to boost that post count a lot though. |

Thank you for all the advice, is anyone interested in helping with the project?
The release date is Sept. 27th, and a lot has to be done before that date. If you are interested and trusted, you may find a spot on the forum easily. Add admin@facebookforums.org |

You should post in the 'Requests for Paid services' forum. Never the less, glad I helped another forum owner.

Am I looking at the same style as you guys? It's a visual eyesore and the forum icons look like they have wings on them. Okay, we are trying to look like facebook but face book looks like a visual stack of crap.
Anyway, maybe i'm missing the sarcasm in this thread. |

Nope. I agree. While simplicity is best, Facebook seems to try to stay with a simple design but jam pack it full of features. It's like someone on steroids, but not wearing clothes for whatever reason (try to figure that analogy out).
But seriously, the result is an extremely non-easy to follow layout as a result of poor hierarchy, and everything is all crammed together. Unfortunately, it looks like this "Facebook" style has fallen victim of the same thing. |
