Addon Questions...
Hello All,
I'm considering to buy vBulletin because I have used almost every different forum software out there and the base of vBulletin definitely seems to be the best, however I need to have some options which i'm not sure are available to vBulletin. I asked over in vBulletin.com and they gave me an ok answer but I know you guys are die hard modders and will most likely answer the questions better 1. I am very big on SEO and I like to have lots of control over the way the urls are rendered. I would like to use the main category of each forum as the first directory and then any sub categories for the sub directories, finally showing the thread in a html or similiar format. I would also need the ability to add nofollow to links. Can anyone suggests any good addons for this? 2. To start I just want a list of the products that our company will offer. However down the road I would like people to have the ability to order online and pickup the items they ordered in the store. Are there any addons that can do this? If not are there any alternative programs that will plugin to vBulletin and use a single login but not necessarily be directly part of vBulletin? 3. I plan to offer both Spanish and English forums. I wonder if it's possible to show / hide the forum categories based on language selected? This isn't really critical, I just don't want to clutter the screen. 4. Portals, i'll definitely need one since i'll want to keep people updated on whats going on, events etc. Any suggestions? I noticed this site uses a portal (a nice one at that)! Thanks in advance for your help! Nick --------------- Added [DATE]1215655759[/DATE] at [TIME]1215655759[/TIME] --------------- I just thought of one more. Are there any bridges for CMS like Mambo or Joomla? |

1- there is no integrated SEO engine in vb 3.7 ... you will have to take a peek at http://vbseo.com for the best engine for this kind of thing...
2- there is no shop for vBulletin... you can find some commercial shops that can plug into vBulletin for authentication of members, but that's all.. and for shops that provide purchasing real goods, it's more complicated... 3- for multiple-language forums, the only real engine that drive the forums the way you want is here: http://nexialys.net/vb/showthread.php?t=426 ... approved by Jelsoft. i am not advertising it, because it's not free. 4- http://vbadvanced.com and http://vbportal.com are the best known portals that are built with vBulletin core files. 5- i know that Joomla have a bridge released here, but i do not know about the reliability of service... |

That was a tremendously helpful post! Thank you
1. That vBSEO looks really promising. It seems like it's a seperate version though? Meaning I would download and install it versus the vBulletin. Is that assumption correct or is it simply an addon? 2. Yeah i'm totally fine with something that just plugs into vBulletin user authentication for the store. I'm fairly proficient with PHP so I could always do my own code to handle the store. I don't need all the processing stuff, just a cart and notification to emails upon completion. 3. In thinking it over I really don't need to hide the language forums since it's probably best to show everyone all the forums since many visitors will be bi-lingual! 4. Those portals look excellent! They will do the job! 5. Well a Joomla bridge sounds promising but I would imagine that you loose the SEO capabilities like you do with so many other apps bridged in Joomla / Mambo. |

vBSEO is simply an addon for vBulletin. Can also be referred to as a "modification" for vBulletin.

As for a bridge with Joomla, I don't see how that would affect the SEO functionality of any product. vB SEO or default vBulletin wouldn't effect the SEO capabilities of Joomla, nor would anything added to Joomla have an effect on vBulletin, as long as Joomla and vBulletin were not installed in the same folder. |
