Custom Work Standards?

ok so , i was looking at the paid requests section , and i saw some people post some request and i have seen many other requests for a VERY low budget , i think just talking and setting things up would eat up that amount.

I dont know how much people here charge for custom work , but i have seen a decrease in budgets , i know many people cant pay 300-400++ , etc , but , some people have gone as low as 50$ , 60 - 70 etc... thats just not worth for many , at least not for me ( these are at least 7hrs minimum work projects ) .

In no means im trying to start some war here , just want to know everyone's thought on this.

Designers and or Coders , what do you think , should you be paid 60$ for something that may take up to 12 hours . with limited creativity ? , everyone here rates their own work and puts a tag price on them , i just think it has gone too low for what its involved. Let me know what are your thoughts , im just disappointed in several things. :erm: .

Seriously -- If you're serious about your website and you won't pay $300 - $400 + for custom work (300 - 400 is extremely cheap if you ask me) then you have three options. Have a standard, uninteresting site. Learn how to do what you need by yourself. Or give up entirely.

As for the $60 - 70 range.. you get what you pay for. I imagine someone who takes pride in the work they produce would know that custom design should be at least $1,500.

Then again, for $1,500 I'd imagine you would get a full blown completely custom website design. $60 - $70 you get someone to go into your cpanel and change a few of the default css attributes.

But as I said, if you want your website to be anything special, be prepared to spend thousands of dollars. OR create it yourself.

you get what u pay for - in some cases u dont.
As for the hacks in the $50-$60 bracket - most of them are not full blown hacks ,most just want simple coding.I asked for a hack for canned messages and got it done for $25 - how much would you of charged.Also i think this board is moving more towards charging members for hacks as lets face it there is nothing much decent released these days so people are forced to pay even for the simplest tweaks..In the old days hacks there where decent hacks released every day,but i can come on here after being away a week and nothing new hardly been released.If you want something then im afraid in this day and age,you have to pay for it.
Go on other board software such as PHP boards etc and the hacks are simple jumping out at you and your not short of what u can get.Seems the crappy boards have all the best hacks for free and the good boards have to pay for them.

"Good Money" is for teenagers...

"Personalized Style" cost a lot for one reason: it represent the profits you will make with your site. if you do not goal to have profits, pay for a third-party style at 50$.

"if you have good reputation, come see me"... this is the best way to find a scammer...

yeah very true , its just sad, on top of that , some designers and coders are beat to death with changes , tweaks, etc after the product has been completed , its frustrating , knowing that the work done was low payment , on top more changes are "Required" .

we just need to live with this for now , and i think if you cant find something , ether make it or pay for it , time = money , and some people make hacks for free as courtesy , and if lucky get some good traffic for some decent revenue , just realize that TIME is the most important thing in anyones Field , its valuable , your skills determine your time value as well .

A custom coded design is not cheap but is well worth it. Currently i am having a custom design made and should be done before April end's. It wasn't cheap but i will continue to invest in my forum to make it better then ones in my own niche.

To many people use Pre-made's and the same old FREE mod's. If you want your site to stand out or be different from the ones in your own niche... spend some cash and create a masterpiece.

Don't start a forum and expect to get custom coded mod's or templates for a cheap price. Usually going cheap mean's poor service and support or job not done the way you wanted it to be done.
