Question About Closed Forum
Hi everyone!
I'm very new to this vBulletin thing. I paid someone to do my template for my site, and to set it up for me. For about two months I've been on my own... and well, it's been going kinda sloooow. To explain what it is that I'm trying to do here, let me explain my site. I run a Christmas based business (for many years now). And last year I decided I wanted to do a North Pole forum. Where parents and children can come and "visit" the North Pole. Santa is on there, the reindeer, Mrs. Claus, and many more. Right now we have a few members as we work out the kinks, then after I'm happy with it we are really going to start getting people to it. One of our features is an update from the North Pole. When Santa has time he writes a "blog" about what is going on at the North Pole. When we build the site I had someone make me a blog box at the top of the screen, that we manually go in and update (in the admin). In the blog box we only put the first part of the story in there, then there is a link that will allow them to read the rest of the story. The link will take them to a thread for that day. We have a separate forum called "Updates From The North Pole", and in the forum is many threads from each day. (I'm really trying to explain this as best as I can). We do not want anyone to post in this forum, just Santa. So what I have been doing for the past few months is closing that forum (so no one can post in it), then write my blog, open the forum, post the blog as Santa, then close the forum. It has been a pain because I have to log in and out as Santa and as the Admin. So my question is, is there a way to have only Santa post in that forum? I have tried to play around with the settings but I don't want to do too much in case I really mess something up. Any help you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated! Kris :-) |

Is Santa in his own usergroup? If he is, then it is simple - just set his usergroup to be allowed to post in that forum and then set the Registered Users (or whatever group your users are all in) to not be allowed to post in the forum, but be allowed to read.
