Looking for database software package
I hope this makes sense....
I am brewing an idea at a forum that I am involved in and I am looking for a little advice (or help). At this forum, a lot of folks collect the same things and there is a lot of trading. There are a lot of forum posts about this and it gets kind of convoluted at times. I am looking for a piece of software (associated with vBulletin or not) that would be MySQL based, and allow custom fields for information about each piece in a member's collection. People could register and enter each piece in their collection and input information about size, color, manufacturer, whatever.... Somehow, that information would be displayed on web pages and would be searchable (for example if a member was looking for a particular item he could find the other members that had it). Is there software like this around or anything that works with vBulletin? |

Something like https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=132544 perhaps?
or https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=167020 both look pretty good, although I've never tested/used either. |

Thanks, but no, I'm not looking for a classifieds or auction system. I am looking for some kind of database software that will allow members to show their collections.

hmm, can't really help you there then, maybe try searching for something like "extended profiles" or something like that. Otherwise I expect it will have to be custom made

For my purpose it could be either associated with vBulletin, or not. I would think that some flexible software would already be around for this sort of thing but maybe not.

EDIT: I guess its hit and miss now. I've got it running on 3.6.8 and have modified it for my own personal needs.. however, the natives are not very happy with the support, so check it out and see if it will do what you need it to do.. its fairly easy to use. |
