What happened to vbTube?

I remember there was a great mod with lots of potential called vbTube that eventually was sent to the graveyard because of a security flaw.

I see a new site has popped up where it's a paid modification but I am worried it still might have the issues. Anyone have any insight on this? Or....does anyone know how to apply the fix that is suggested at this site:

Description:
Crackers_Child has reported a vulnerability in vBTube, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

Input passed to the parameter "search" in vBTube.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerability is reported in version 1.1 beta. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Filter malicious characters or character sequences using a proxy.
