I've been looking for a mod that would do this here for several hours (even tried installing CES Site News), but no luck.
What I need is a simple way to integrate posts made in a forum designated as a news forum to another php page which is NOT a vB page. I have a site separate from vB at the moment and I'd simply like to get the news posted in one of our forums to the front page of the site. To describe how this works: we have a news forum, which works the same as any other forum. The threads posted in this forum are actually news articles. The thread title is the news title and the thread message is the news. Every such thread should appear as a news article on the front page of our site. We would simply include the url of the news script (where the forum and number of threads to convert to news articles would be specified in the url) on our front page index.php to get the news to show there. What would wind up showing on the front page would be the news title, news body, who posted the news and when, and a link to comment on the news with the number of existing comments specified. Nothing fancy, just these basic elements, which can then be styled to conform to the look of everything else on the front page. I've installed CES Site News which, at a glance, does all this, but it does it INSIDE the forum you designate as a news forum. What I need is the ability to have all that externally, and without any forum layout clutter so that I can easily include and style it on my site's front page. I don't know if this would be possible with a modification to CES Site News, but if a system exists that would leave my news forum as a regular forum and just allow me to grab content from it like I described, I'd rather use that. So... anyone know of such a mod? Thanks in advance for any ideas... |

Thanks, that one seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.
